A student once asked his teacher, the Baal Shem Tov, "Why is it that you are constantly travelling from city to city and village to village, when most Torah scholars stay in their academies and receive students from all over the world?

"The Baal Shem Tov answered, "My dear, the teachings of Chassidus are like fire, while the teachings of the Talmud are like water. All those who are thirsty flock to water; however, most people flee from fire.

Therefore, I must travel to my students, and teach them that Chassidus is not a fire that consumes, but one that illuminates and inspires."
